Shocking article published by l'Hebdo on 14/03/13

Neuchâtel (Switzerland), 15/03/2013.

We refer to the shocking article, that was published by l’Hebdo on 14/03/2013, including an unauthorized photo of Metalor and linking the Swiss gold refining industry to “dirty gold” from Colombia in a very unfounded and unprofessional manner.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that this article contains many mistakes and inconsistencies, and can therefore not be credible (e.g. “Metalor being owned by Kuhn Rikon AG in Zell”, which is wrong).

Also, this article contains only unjustified accusations and is not based on any concrete facts.

Since its creation 160 years ago, Metalor has always been recognized by our employees and our worldwide business partners as an ethical and responsible precious metal company, that has become the world’s largest multiple site refiner of gold.

This would not have been possible without irreproachable business practices and a sustainable strong corporate ethic.

For many years now Metalor has been taking – and continues to take – significant, concrete steps to ensure traceability through all the steps of the supply chain, for example, all Metalor customers worldwide have stringent due diligence procedures according to Swiss law, as well as other strict anti-corruption, environmental protection, labor and human rights requirements.

Metalor is very proud to play a prominent role within a number of prestigious international industry associations, like the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC), the UN Global Compact etc. These major organizations recognize the quality of our products as well as our compliant business practices.

Also, Metalor is subject to the Swiss Precious Metal Control Act and Money Laundering Acts and applies the same principles, throughout the world, wherever Metalor operates and does business, and this compliance is regularly audited by independent third parties in accordance with local legislation.

Metalor’s corporate culture has been founded upon honesty and integrity at all levels of the company, and we are determined to continue to be relentless in our efforts to implement these values internally and externally.
