Metalor to build a new electrical contact production plant in Mexico
Neuchâtel (Switzerland) – 19 March 2014
Metalor, the world’s leading electrical contact manufacturing company, based in Neuchâtel (Switzerland), has announced plans to build a new electrical contact production plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to increase its current capacity. The plant is scheduled to begin operation in the second half of 2014.
This new plant will enable Metalor to offer considerable value to its clients and meet the growing needs of electrical component manufacturers in the North America region, thanks to its state-of-the-art equipment, which will deliver products of the highest quality.
“We are delighted at this announcement. The construction of a new plant for Metalor’s electrical engineering business unit in Mexico comes at a time when demand for our products is increasing, so this fits perfectly with our development strategy in the North America region”, says Hubert Angleys, Chief Executive Officer of the Metalor Group.
The new plant will use the latest electroplating technologies and new metal soldering equipment which comply fully with the strictest environmental and safety standards.
The partnership agreement between Metalor and the government of San Luis Potosí was signed at a meeting between Ing. Fernando Macías, the State Secretary for Economic Development, and executives of the Swiss-based Group. This agreement will support the establishment of the new plant in San Luis Potosí, helping to boost employment in the region.
“We are very pleased at Metalor’s decision to establish an electrical contact plant in San Luis Potosí”, says Fernando Macías. “This investment bears witness to San Luis Potosí state’s competitiveness in terms of labor force and cost and will complement our existing metal engineering activities”.
